Story of my life
Hey Friends and Strangers,
It’s been quite a while since I posted any information on this blog and I’m not sure how many, if any of you still check up on me or read this thing anymore. This blogs archive is certainly much more entertaining than it’s more recent posts and for that I apologize dearly. Even if I’m the only one hearing said apology.
This winter has been quite a stagnant one for me. The cold and snow keep me physically and mentally cooped up and my creative output is at an all time low. The days I used to spend producing (what I considered) good work are now spent going through old drawings and painting admiring and looking for something to spark my interest or give me inspiration.
I decided to get back on my screen printing grind. It is a medium that I really love working with for quite a few reasons, and I am lucky enough to have a fully operational studio set-up in my apartment (thanks to my awesome roomate and partner in crime. I made these shirts yesterday and I really like how they came out
The design is not mine. Thats Uncle Sam of Grateful Dead lore, and star of the Grateful Dead movie. This T shirt is neat because it is actually only 2 colors: Pink and Blue. However I set up the screens so that they would overlap, making the 3rd purple color, which acts as the outlines (and filler in some cases) for this print. It’s a great effect that I want to play with more.
Adding in a third color, yellow, would allow me to include 4 additional colors: yellow, green, orange, and the brownish color that would be the result of all 3 primary colors stacked. I cant wait to see what I can pull off.
If you’re reading still thanks for being interested in me gosh darnit. It means a lot.
